Development Projects at Alexandria University in the Educational and National sectors:

Education Development Projects

 

Higher Education Development Fund Project HEEPF

The number of submitted projects is 24 for 4 stages: 6 projects in the first stage, 5 projects in the second stage, 3 projects in the third stage and 10 projects in the fourth stage. The overall budget is LW 778644.10

Quality Assurance Center

Quality Assurance and Accreditation Project (QAAP)
The cost of each project is LE 15,0000. The total expenses of QAAP is LE 2,100,000.00. It contains 14 projects for 3 stages. Nine projects were accepted In the first stage. In the second stage, three projects were accepted and in the third stage two projects were accepted.

Quality Assurance and Accreditation Project 2 (QAAP2)
It contains 17 projects for 2 stages: 9 faculties had QAAP2 projects in March 2009, 8 faculties had QAAP2 projects in May 2008.

Continuous Improvement and Qualification for Accreditation Project (CIQAP)
It contains 10 projects for 3 stages. In the first stage 4 faculties acquired CIQAP in February 2008, in the second stage 3 faculties acquired CIQAP and in the third stage there are three faculties are eligible for the project

Information and Communication Technology Project (ICTP)

Since the reopening of the progress of development projects, systems and information technology in higher education, the university prepared its private vision in the fields of the projects which are

The infrastructure development project for an information network of Alexandria University

The project of management information systems of Alexandria University

The project of training faculty members and their assistants and employees in Alexandria University for information and communication technology

The project of the electronic library

The e-learning center at Alexandria University

The project of developing the faculties of Education (FOEP)

The Faculty of Education, Alexandria University had 2 projects and then the Faculty of Education-Damanhour Branch had one project
Faculty leadership development project (FLDP)

The total number of training workshops was 975 for 21,769 trainees through the cooperation with UNESCO. The total expenses paid for the workshops held in was about 3.5 million pounds. The FLDP center is internationally accredited through the World Bank.

   
EU Projects

 

The program of research, development and innovation (RDI):

Eight projects were proposed and are being evaluated.

The European program for research projects and technology development FP6 and FP7

Two FP6 projects were accepted with a total funding of L.E. 449,000.00

An FP7 project was accepted through the PEOPLE program for the Faculty of Dentistry. Two additional projects were also acquired by the University, with a total budget of L.E. 335,200.

TEMPUS program

The University received a total of ten projects during the period 2003-2008, with a total funding of L.E. 3,497,300.00 .Two of these projects were received in 2008/2009 with a total funding of L.E. 1,790,244.00 .

Spanish Agency for Development

The University received four projects, with a total funding of L.E. 17,000.00

Erasmus Mundus Program

The University received one project, with a total funding of L.E. 217,000.00

   
Science and Technology Development Fund Projects (STDF)

 

Seven projects were received from the fund with LE 5,227,054.00. Seven additional project were preliminary accepted; the proper funding is currently under consideration

   
Industry Modernization Center (IMC) Projects

 

The University received one project, with a total funding of L.E. 1,200,000.00

   
The Project of the University Hospitals

 

The project of establishing new Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospitals at Smouha that costs 300 million pounds (Public Private Partnership:PPP)

Establishment of advanced centers supplementary to the land of El-Mowassah hospital with expnses of LE 300 Million (PPP)

Rehabilitation of El-Mowasah Hospital (an educational therapeutic compound for the students of the first three years of the Faculty of Medicine) with total expenses of LE 60 Millions (Donation)with expenses of 300 million pounds (Public private partnership)

Financing and equipping of Pediatric and Emergency Hospitals at Smouha and Borg El Arab Hospital through Dutch grant at costs of LE 140 Million and the participation of the Egyptian Government with LE 220 million

The outpatient polyclinic at the main university hospital with expenses amounting to LE 150 Million (State Projects and LE 40 Million donation from the community)

Rehabilitation of the compound of the main hospital at El-Azarita with expnses amounting to LE 100 Million (20% State Budget, 60% self funding and 20% donation from the community)

Establishment of the Injury Center in El-Hadara Orthopedic University Hospital for bone surgery with a total expnses of LE 90 Million (LE 80 Million from the State Budget and LE 10 Million donation)

Projects approved and underway

Project for establishing specialized medical centers in the area of Borg El-Arab over a hundred feddans area:

  • Advanced plastic surgery
  • Center for psychiatry, neural diseases and addiction treatment
  • Rehabilitation and physiotherapy Geriatric care center.

Project of establishing a city for medical research supplemented to Borg El-Arab Hospital over an area of about one hundred feddans, to establish an integrated compound of medical research, consisting of:

  • A compound for advanced laboratories for medical research
  • A residential compound for researchers and visitors
  • An entertainment compound including shopping centers and a social club
  • A conference center with a five-stars hotel
